Welcome to the life of the rich and the famous — enjoy the somewhat virtual tour; it’s probably the closest you’ll get to being inside any of these cool celebrity pads or to owning one yourself, unfortunately.
Here’s a look at the seven coolest celebrity pads.
1. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, actress Portia De Rossi recently bought a new house in L.A. named “The Brody House” for close to $40 million. They sold their previous home in Beverly Hills to “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest.
Sitting on roughly 2.3 acres, The Brody House is around 13,500 square feet with six bedrooms and 9 1/2 bathrooms, as well as a pool, spa, gym and tennis court. Ellen has stated in the past that she likes to move around every two years.
2. Patrick Dempsey
“Grey’s Anatomy” actor Patrick Dempsey and his family own the beautiful home in Malibu architect Frank Gehry built for artist Ron Davis, often referred to as “The Tin House.” Dempsey bought the roughly 5,000-square-foot house around five years ago, stating that ”we were looking for a little land and space, and a house with some architectural significance.”
Their home features a pivoting glass panel that acts as a front door, a sculpting studio for Dempsey’s wife Jillian, a swimming pool, an outdoor eating area, an Airstream trailer in the backyard, a huge garden, a chicken coop, an outdoor oven and more.
3. David and Victoria Beckham
David and Victoria Beckham and family recently bought a L40 million (which is roughly equivalent to $67 million) home in West London and are set to do about L5 million in renovations on the house. With eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a huge kitchen, wine cellar and gym, the 9,000-square-foot property will be renovated to include a salon for Victoria, a man’s cave for David and a playroom for their four children.
Once renovated, the home is allegedly supposed to also include a secret entrance hidden in a bookcase and tunnels into the home underneath the huge garden in the back.
Besides their West London home, the Beckhams own houses in California and Dubai and a vacation home in the south of France.
4) Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen
Quarterback Tom Brady and model Gisele Bundchen came across the open lot that would become their Los Angeles home years ago pre-marriage on a trip to California during Brady’s off-season. They then began to figure out their plans for the house and how they wanted to design it.
“I like simplicity and coziness,” said Bundchen when asked about the design of their home. “I want to live in a place that feels like a real home, where you can put your feet up on the couch and just relax.”
Brady and Bundchen wanted to build a beautiful home to share with their children but also one that was as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. In the building of the approximately 14,000-square-foot house, they used as many recycled and salvaged components as possible and also decided to use energy and water systems that would lessen their negative impact on the land.
Additionally, they used environmentally friendly construction materials and installed solar panels that are used for all their estate’s electricity needs. The house has six bedrooms, a stone bridge across a moat, a chicken coop, a huge garden and a swimming pool in the back.
5) Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Reality star Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West bought their $11 million Bel-Air mansion in January 2013 and have been having renovations done on the home since then. The house was 9,000 square feet and is supposedly being expanded to 14,000 square feet.
The newlyweds’ estate will have huge windows to let in the sun, a big great room, an elevator to the master suite on the second floor and a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and a bar area. Reports also state Kimye’s dream house will have a gym, movie theater, pool, salon and basketball court and that Kim secretly arranged for the building of a “man cave” for Kanye.
6) Sandra Bullock
Actress Sandra Bullock bought a $23 million Beverly Hills mansion in 2011. The house sits on four acres and was built in 1940. It includes seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a library, a chef’s kitchen, a pool and 270-degree views of the Pacific Ocean.
After moving in, Bullock did some renovations on the interior. The Oscar winner also owns several other homes across the country, including in New Orleans; Austin, Texas; and New York City.
7) Hugh Jackman
Actor Hugh Jackman bought his $25 million, 11,000-square-foot NYC apartment back in 2008. The 3-level condo, which takes up floors 8-10 of an apartment building, is in West Village in Manhattan.
Jackman’s apartment boasts five bedrooms, luxurious bathrooms, a gourmet kitchen, a library, a studio/exercise area, a recreation room, three terraces, several spiral staircases and amazing views of the Hudson River.
With beautiful facades and gorgeous interiors as well as amazing features and tons of super awesome amenities, these seven celebrity homes are definitely the coolest around right now.
