Pros: She is obviously an intelligent woman and knows what she's trying to teach.
Cons: Very much a racist woman. She does NOT accept others' opinions on a subject. Her tests strongly from the reading. Also, he attendance policy is ridiculous.
Would not recommend this class.

Pros: Very great professor and such a great woman! She genuinely cares for her students in the classroom and wants to see you succeed. She is also funny at times too. And she is passionate about what she teaches. Very easy elective!
Cons: There's a lot of articles to read but other than that, it's a great, easy class.
There is also a project you will do at the end of the semester. She will group you up with 2 or 3 other people and you have to do a presentation over one of the articles she gives you. There's also 2 response papers that she requires you to write over a specific reading.

Pros: Fascinating, easy to grasp material that directly applies to your life.
Cons: Lots of reading which can be time consuming.
Dr Ray is a Women's Studies goddess. She does what she wants and she does it well. Oh so well. If you can bear to read about a novel a week, take this course, you won't be disappointed.

Pros: Very chilled and relaxed.
Cons: None that I can think of.
Dr. Ray is a pretty cool teacher. She doesn't really give out homework much if any at all and she breaks down the articles in the book during her lectures. Attendance is mandatory and strongly encouraged since all of her lectures are on power point and she does not upload them on elc. Your grade is made up of Participation, 3 exams, and a final project at the end of class. The exams are worth 70% in all so if you fail one you are pretty much screwed in the class. However if you go to class and take down the notes its almost impossible to fail the exams. The final project is a group project that consist of a power point presentation and a 8-10 page paper on a movie. She picks your group for you unless you have an idea of who you want in your group before she starts picking. Each group has roughly 3~4 members and these people will also be your group members for a small presentation project. For that one you will be assign an article in the book to present to the class as a lecture which is pretty simple. Overall the class is pretty straightforward and easy, it just involves a lot of time and work to finish the final project.

Dr. Ray is awesome. She functions more as a facilitator for class discussion than as a dictator. We read interesting books and watched great films. The project was a lot of fun. Not to mention, she has the most calming demeanor I've ever seen. Class always made me feel peaceful.

Pros: she's really approachable and reasonable. she gets that this probably isn't a course you're passionate about. and she gets that not everyone comes from a diverse background, but as long as you try to add input with at least some substance once or twice a class, you'll be fine.
Cons: does forget that we aren't as exposed to topics in women's studies as she is sometimes, but even then she does a good job of backtracking, but you have to catch her at a pause and ask her to back up.
